The network advances the exchange of ideas and information between the Nordic journalism education institutions and organises the biennial NordJour conference for journalism educators. The committee also awards mobility grants for Nordic academic students and educators to be used in the Nordic region.

The working language of the committee is skandinaviska, a mixture of the spoken Scandinavian languages.
